Ask your MP to stand up for struggling pensioners in the Pension Schemes Bill

There is a gross unfairness in the operation of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) which penalises people who saved into their pensions before 1997, leaving them worse off at a time when many pensioners are struggling to make ends meet.

The Government has an opportunity to finally address this issue by amending the upcoming Pension Schemes Bill, potentially benefitting up to 400,000 pensioners at no cost to the public finances.

That's why we're asking you to email your MP and call on them to lobby the Department for Work and Pensions to support Prospect’s calls to amend the upcoming Pension Schemes Bill to give pension contributions made before 1997 the same inflation-linked rises each year as contributions made after 1997. This would deliver an urgently needed upgrade in living standards for struggling pensioners at no extra cost to the Government.
