Let your voice be heard – Respond to Cabinet Office Pension Consultation
The Cabinet Office is consulting on amendments to the Civil Service Pension Scheme regulations to implement the first phase of the McCloud remedy and set member contribution rates for 2022/23.
Please email the Cabinet Minister Stephen Barclay to show your opposition to members picking up the bill for the remedy through the cost control mechanism. Without the inclusion of the costs of McCloud, the cost control mechanism would have triggered improvements to the Alpha scheme from 1 April 2019.
The Civil Service Scheme Advisory Board recommended to the Cabinet Office Minster Steve Barclay to implement improvements to accrual rate, death benefits, and a progressive contribution structure before the costs of McCloud were factored into the cost control mechanism.
The template response we've prepared summaries the union's position. These include proposals on additional contributions and ill health retirements. As well as our criticism of the short-term approach that has been taken to set member contribution rates.
Please email the Cabinet Office to help us demonstrate the strength of feeling amongst scheme members on this important issue.
