Email your MS asking them to support the campaign for fair pay in the heritage sector

Write to your workplace’s MS to highlight your concern about the pay crisis in the heritage sector and organise a visit to a heritage workplace in your constituency.

The heritage sector is a huge contributor to the British economy, made up of highly skilled workers who have trained for years to become specialists in their chosen field.

Despite this, heritage workers’ pay is much lower than comparable skilled workers in other sectors, and is declining fast. This is only being compounded by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Not only do workers in the sector need a pay rise, but they also need better pay freedoms and flexibilities, in order to address recruitment and skill retention. Without urgent action, inadequate pay and conditions in the sector risk the future of British cultural heritage and historical research.

We strongly encourage you to write to your workplace’s MS, raising awareness of the pay crisis and asking the MS to visit your place of work. This will provide an opportunity to speak with workers and gain a greater understanding of the issues facing the sector.

Please personalise the letter to refer directly to your place of work and the role you undertake, so that the MS knows where you work in their constituency.

Ysgrifennwch at AS eich gweithle er mwyn tynnu sylw at eich pryder am yr argyfwng cyflogau a chyllido yn y sector treftadaeth yng Nghymru.

Mae’r sector treftadaeth yn cyfrannu’n helaeth at economi Cymru, sy’n cynnwys gweithwyr medrus iawn sydd wedi hyfforddi am flynyddoedd i fod yn arbenigwyr yn y maes o’u dewis.

Er gwaethaf hyn, mae cyflogau gweithwyr treftadaeth yn llawer is na gweithwyr sydd â sgiliau tebyg mewn sectorau eraill ac mae’r cyflogau hyn yn gostwng yn gyflym. Mae’r argyfwng costau byw yn ychwanegu at y broblem hon.

Mae angen i weithwyr y sector gael codiad cyflog, yn ogystal â gwell rhyddid cyflog, hyblygrwydd a sicrwydd swydd er mwyn mynd i’r afael â recriwtio a chadw staff sydd â sgiliau. Heb weithredu ar hyn ar frys, mae cyflogau ac amodau annigonol yn y sector yn peryglu dyfodol treftadaeth ddiwylliannol ac ymchwil hanesyddol Cymru.

Rydyn ni’n eich annog i ysgrifennu at AS eich gweithle a chodi ymwybyddiaeth o’r argyfwng cyflogau, yn ogystal â gofyn i’r AS gefnogi ein gwaith parhaus yn cael cyllid teg ar gyfer sector Treftadaeth Cymru a sicrhau dyfodol y sefydliadau hollbwysig hyn sydd ag ymrwymiadau cyllido tymor hir.

Dylech addasu’r llythyr a chyfeirio’n uniongyrchol at eich gweithle a’ch rôl chi o fewn y gweithle hwnnw, er mwyn i’r AS wybod ymhle rydych chi’n gweithio o fewn eu hetholaeth.
